Important directions of Reusable LM

Reusable LM must not reuse more than 40 times. Products had been sterile; it could be used at first time. But they should be cleaned, sterilized and inspected before next using. The ways as followed:

Cleaning:

Immersing the device into 10% sodium bicarbonate/water, cleaning the airway tube with a small soft bristle brush approximately 1/2 inch in diameter, swashing the cuff and tube with clean and warm water and inspecting carefully make sure that all visible foreign matter has been removed. Attention: Sterility, disinfector or any other chemical must not be used to clean LM. These substances will be absorbed by products material, which will affect on patients.

Sterilizing:

Deflating all the air from cuff and identification balloon with syringe and placing the device into steam autoclave, which follow the recommendation of the institution or the autoclave manufacture. Because the difference between the design and feature of different autoclave, the process conditions as followed just for consideration.

2.3   Contraindication

①Use the product during the validity period

②The product is forbidden for use if the individual package is damaged

③Greater than 14 to 16 weeks pregnant

④Patients with multiple or massive injury

⑤Massive thoracic injury

⑥Massive maxillofacial trauma

⑦Patients at risk of aspiration

NOTE: Not all contraindications are absolute (except ①&②).

Application:

1.      Remove the product from the pouch, and preventing to be polluted.

2.      Using a syring with Ruhr tapered joint to deflate the air completely (picture 1)

3.      In the back tip of the LMA, coating a small amount of water-soluble lubricants (or saline), and grip the LMA with a pen-style hand.

4.      Make the patient's mouth opening, and place the back tip behind the front teeth(picture 2)

5.      Assisted with the index finger along the jaw slowly, and pressed until feeling the resistance.(picture 3)

6.      Before removing the index finger, with your other hand pressing the endotracheal tube to prevent displacement(picture 4)

7.      Using a syring to open the valve, and inflate the air to the indicating pressure on the cuff(no more than the max capacity). Put into dental pad, fixed position, and maintain ventilation.(picture 5)

8.      After using, deflate the air completely, and then pull out LMA.
